Hello from New York, a vast city made up of five boroughs, and ringed by endless suburbs that extend into New Jersey, Connecticut and beyond.
Affordable housing is a running joke hereabouts. The economy continues to be shaky; employment is not surging. Some folks do seem to be very rich.
Your Guardian piece certainly has stirred up lots of strongly held opinions. It was very interesting to read through those comments, learning how our countries and countrysides compare.
I'm hoping that the Guardian will be printing more of your essays.
